This is truly fantastic work you are conducting. I am familiar with this concept through my work with Regenstrief and most recently, the ACA. Ezekiel J. Emanuel even writes of this in his book, Reinventing American Healthcare. I am not surprised the large EHR vendors are not biting. Their goal is clearly to monopolize the industry as much as possible, for one. Second, they would probably prefer to find a way around patent laws and develop a similar technology on their own. They certainly would not likely be interested in paying royalties to anyone.

We tend to think technology will solve a lot of problems and then put measures such as meaningful use in place to combat our overreliance on technologies. The focus of your work, however, is a much better defense, I believe.
