Thanks, Chris. I have seen the point you make concerning unsuited tools a few times. I see the call for UX advocacy far more often and while I do agree it is a red flag or warning sign, I tend to ask some questions around that in the interview to see if there is truly a big problem there or it is just the normal request for pushing UX. It seems advocating UX is something you will have to do in most positions. But, when there is a big problem with adoption or they stress this in the interview, it suggests they are still in the early phases of building the team or have some serious issues in embedding the UX team into the development process.
