This depends on how you define “quality.” McDonald’s, I think, is much better at creating a mediocre product quickly and consistently than anything else. If I want a really good cheeseburger, I don’t go to McDonald’s. If I want a quick meal that is cheap, I go to McDonald’s (or a competitor). The point of the article is not to critique McDonald’s, but rather to evaluate Ritzer’s theory in relation to the UX profession.
