Very interesting comments, Lyle, and thank you. Yes, I have encountered all of those situations. But, the one I wish I would have put in the article (and may do so at some later time) is the example of the restaurant payment where they bring a device to your table. I have seen this done a number of ways and most times I don’t mind. However, one restaurant I went to did not leave the device at the table. I had to sign and tip while the server stood over me. We didn’t receive particularly great service, but it felt awkward leaving anything less than 20% with the person standing right over me. Not a great way to end my experience at that restaurant. We haven’t been back since then.
